Keyword Analysis

Keywords are the words people type into the search engine to find your site. The words can't be so general that they pull up 34 million hits, like "Shoes" or so specific that the phrase is beyond what an average site visitor might type in even if they were looking for "pink crystal laced Italian leather shoes with red heels," though that search, out of quotation marks, pulls up 39,000 sites.

We work with you to find the words appropriate for your audience and industry. The object is to drive TARGETED traffic, traffic that has self selected as being interested in your products and services, and get them to act. Number one in the search engines for "shoes" does no good if you sell horse shoes or brake shoes. Once the keywords are chosen, the most important task of keyword optimization is to determine whether your pages are optimized for and rank highly in search engines for keywords that people actually want to find.

Keyword Optimization and Search Engine Optimization

The words are chosen. Then content is created to use the keywords strategically throughout the site. Then the keywords are tracked, analyzed and refined. Keywords are the first step of Search Engine Optimization (SEO). SEO is a process of making sure your content can be found and correctly categorized by the search engines so that they return the best results to the searcher and provide focused traffic to your site.

Chosen keywords can underperform, they can be seasonal, they can be topical. What they can not be is chosen and forgotten. Keywords need to be monitored and tweaked to maintain a consistently high level of Web site performance.
